UNBOXING: Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden 9.5 Official Fanbook Hoshi no Rasen (Watase Yuu)

Fushigi Yugi Genbu Kaiden / Yuu Watase

Because the first chapter of Byakko Ibun was published a few days ago, I decided to go with Genbu Kaiden's Hoshi no Rasen unboxing for today. That, and it's been a while since I last had a non-AKB48-group-related unboxing post.

I also got the reprint of Fushigi Yuugi's soundtrack together with it.

Hoshi no Rasen's size is the same with the typical tankobon release. What's good about it is that despite its inexpensive price (sans shipping), all pages were printed and glossy paper. Plus, there were 40 pages of colored Watase artworks.

This was released after Watase changed her art style so the cover is a bit different from the Genbu Kaiden I was used to seeing.

Cover recaps.

There were many pages with a lot of text which were not that hard to read because of the furigana. The problem is that they were too text heavy for a beginner like me.

I'd say that Hoshi no Rasen is something every Genbu Kaiden fans should have. Included were character profiles, memorable and humorous pieces, plenty of new information and the gorgeous colored pages. Not to mention it's really cheap especially when you don't have to shoulder the shipping costs.

  1. the struggle of not being fluent in a language u love lol~~~ kills me sometimes (especially with Kodansha Mooks; I wanna buy them to support my idols, but too text heavy for me lol). I owe Matsui Rena's 2nd photobook (Hemeretto? Is that how u spell it? lol)~ there's a huge section with Q&A's and I can only read a little and it bothers me so much lol.

    1. That's true. A lot of AKB48 photobooks are like that. Good thing there are some nice people who translate them for the fans.
