Mid-2013 AKB48 and Family Ranking

In everything, we always get to have a “favorite.” Favorite color, favorite food, favorite song, etc. And in AKB48, fans also have a favorite girl, our “oshimen.”

I’ve never been in Japan and never seen any AKB48 girl personally. So as an overseas fan, I mainly base my judgment on peformances, music videos, backstage footage and variety shows.

So here’s my favorite AKB girls based on “just that” plus my personal taste.

10. Kashiwagi Yuki

For some reason, Yukirin was one of the members I disliked before. However, she rose to number 10 in my ranking because she’s awesome like that.

9. Kimoto Kanon

My replacement SKE oshi after Kuumin is Non-chan. I first noticed her in Kataomoi Finally where, as we all now, they were shot kissing. After that, I became a Kuumin-Kanon shipper. However, things didn’t turn well as Kuumin graduated. *sniff* *sniff*

Back to Kanon, this girl is absolutely adorable. She’s becoming more and more popular and I can see why.  But I don’t follow SKE48 that much anymore so she might fall out of my top 10 sooner or later.

8. Yamada Nana

I have a confession to make. When NMB first debuted, my oshi instantly became Sayanee. HOWEVER, I thought that the name of this girl with bee-like eyes is Yamada Nana. So I made a post in a certain forum proclaiming that it was Yamada Nana who is my NMB oshi.

Thankfully, that happened. Because of that, I researched more about her and found out that she was a former member of H!P Kansai, SIANA. At that time, I have a soft spot for girls who are somehow related to H!P. And so Nana became my real NMB oshi.

Until now, I love every bits of her, from her crazy personality to her unique voice. And I like the fact that she landed on a good spot in the 2013 election.

7. Murashige Anna

I’m not into children (a.k.a. lolis) so HKT did not appeal to me that much. But when I learned about Aanya, a half-Russian-half-Japanese idol, I started to get interested in the group.

Aanya is not afraid to poke fun of herself. I like idols like that. This is probably the reason why Miichan, as much as I respect and like her, never rose up from my ranking.

Aside from being extremely hilarious, I find Aanya interesting. She has this strong personality as shown when she questioned why Sasshi was transferred to HKT. But I hope that this won’t come as intimidating to others because I honestly want more people to fully support her.

6. Shinoda Mariko

It’s sad that Mariko-sama graduated already because I love it when she and Kojiharu are together. (They’re a beautiful couple!)

Although she’s not as vocally powerful as others (In simpler terms, she sucks at singing), Mariko-sama compensated for it by being a drop-dead gorgeous woman and being a great troll.

She really will be missed.

5. Takahashi Minami

Of course, Takamina can never be absent in my top 10 list. She undoubtedly has an essential role in AKB. As Aki-P said, Takamina’s position in the election will determine the future of the group.

When I was still exclusively in the H!P fandom, I thought that being a captain is just a symbolic role. But seeing how Takamina became a good leader in AKB48, I realized how important it is to become a captain.

4. Sato Amina

Let me introduce you to the girl who threatened to dethrone my kami-oshi from her seat, Sato Amina.

Amina’s Cinderella story touched me. I don’t know why the management is shoving her to the back since I honestly think that back in her younger days, she was a good investment. Yet, the management keeps on breaking her heart. But I’m happy that she’s being honest about her feelings in this issue through her speeches, interviews and blog posts.

Although her rank keeps on falling in the election, she still gives it her best as an AKB member. And now, she gets to be the center for the Next Girls song in Koisuru Fortune Cookie. I actually think that it’s better than getting just eight seconds of screen time in a music video despite being ranked eight.

3. Akimoto Sayaka

The primary reason why I came to like Sayaka was that she is a half-Filipino and she’s proud of it. But I know that even if she wasn’t, she’d still be my third favourite AKB idol. Number one, she has a good heart. She cares for members so much that sometimes, I think that her “manager line” in the Lucky Girl Ranking segment of AKBingo is responsible for it. When she ate the horrendous Datemaki made by a fake fan and saved Meetan’s phone from drowning in the boiling hot pot in AKBingo New Year’s Prank, I knew that Sayaka is not just an ordinary idol. What’s more is that she’s a black belter in Aikido! I’d say that she’s the perfect girl, although not a perfect idol by orthodox standards.

It’s just sad that she got shoved off the back despite being popular among fans. Nevertheless, I’m happy that she got the chance to shine in AKB back in the older days. Now, I look forward to Sayaka being “an actress you can meet.” Hopefully, she’ll visit the Philippines and we, fans of her here, will be able to really meet her… for real.

2. Oshima Yuko

I first saw Yuko in the music video of Iiwake Maybe and my first thought about her, “Who the hell is this bitch?”

There. A good, actress isn’t she?

Kojiharu was actually the reason why I came to like Yuko because my OTP is none other than Kojiyuu. But she didn't land as my second favorite just for that.

Yuko is the MOST interesting idol I’ve ever seen. She’s a crazy person, a great performer and a genius idol. She knows how to make people love her.  And just like Amina, I so want to root for her during the times when she’s just second to Acchan in the eyes of the management. She’s a hard-worker and she deserves every center spot she landed.

And the KAMI OSHI award goes too… *drumrolls*

1.Kojima Haruna

I’ve already mentioned this before but Kojiharu became my oshi after knowing that she likes H!P. I’m not the type to oshihen easily but even if I am, I doubt anyone would replace Kojiharu’s spot in my ranking.

Kojiharu is the perfect definition of gorgeous. She’s always beautiful. Even if it’s an awkward shot her, she still manages to look pretty. I also think that she’s talented in the idol world. I like her nasal voice and she never slacks off when dancing. Although many say that her airhead character is not real, I honestly don’t care. Why? Because it doesn’t matter for me as a Kojiharu oshi.

There. My mid-2013 AKB48 (and family) ranking. I’m not expecting to make drastic changes in my list anytime soon because really, I’m a loyal fan. *wink* *wink*
